PBSKids.org’s website is rich in stunning and
unique content. Games are free and recommended for children two
through eight. Navigating to a game page, allows you to reveal the
game’s educational focus along the top of the screen with a simple
mouse-over. Educational topics include science, literacy,
measurement, estimating, and much more. Parents can even download
website content onto their mobile device by taking advantage the
site’s free mobile downloads
Let your child connect the dots, decorate badges and more with the
Dragon Tales, or play Rhyme Time Bingo and collect letters in a Why
Flying Adventure with PBS’s Super Why. Children will love playing
the games and printing out coloring pages and crafts with their
favorite cartoon characters. More than twenty-six children’s
television shows are represented on the PBS site, including
Clifford, Arthur, and family classic The Bernstein Bears. Games and
activities can be sorted by show, type of game, or educational
focus.
Looking for a break from all that learning? Children can watch full
episodes of their favorite shows online at PBS.org too. A word of
caution though, you will want to be sure that you have access to a
fairly fast internet connection before attempting to browse this
site. While the graphics and animation make this site attractive
and easy to navigate for children, they do cause a slow load time.
Test it out when the kids aren’t around if you’re not sure.
Links for parents and teachers offer program overviews and fun
activities to do with children that reinforce the educational
themes each show presents. Television schedules for each program
are also available via this link. Teachers will be pleased to know
that they can also find lesson plans, FAQ’s, and character
descriptions on these pages, to help them more effectively use this
site as a classroom tool for their kindergarten through third grade
students.
